I just wanted to write this post to remind everyone to LOCK their car doors when they are driving. Yesterday while I was driving home with my two youngest kids we had a problem with a pedestrian. I was coming upon a sidewalk when I seen a lady waiting to cross the street. So I slowed down the car and came to a stop well before the crosswalk line. The lady waved at me acting like she was making sure I was stopping so she could cross. I raised my hand and waved my hand to signal her to cross. As she was walking across the street, she started to come out of the crosswalk and came directly towards my car. Her body was positioned in the middle of my car and as she walked around my car she had her body brush up along the car. (So I couldn't move the car forward without hitting her) I quickly looked over to make sure my door was locked. Luckily I have automatic locks that lock when I start to drive. Next she started jerking the door handle and banging on the window to get in. I just started yelling at her, "No! You need to get away from my car now!" She backed up just enough for me to take off without running over her feet. As I looked in my mirror I seen that she started to go for the car behind me as well. The next several drivers all speed up and quickly passed around her. Of course I didn't have my cell phone with me and I should have drove straight to the police department, but I didn't. I was trying my hardest to stay calm and comfort my 4 year old in the backseat who was really upset. Thankfully my doors were locked! Do you drive with your doors locked?
Oh' My heavens Samantha~ that is so SOOOOO SCARY. I lived in Oregon for 10 mos. and there are some creepy looking people, especially down town. I totally lock my doors WHEN DRIVING. You never know... kinda like your situation. I am so glad you both got away ok, and that she couldn't get in. She was probably heavily on drugs or something. Again, glad you are ok. Jenn
ReplyDeleteWhat?! That IS CRAZY! I always lock when driving because of that very thing. Just in case. I never heard it happen for real, though! I'm glad the crazy wench couldn't get in. Was she old? High?
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! That is awful. My van automatically locks when I put it into drive and I am so glad. That must have been so scary.
ReplyDeleteomy goodness! How scary! Yes, my door lock automically too, but I am SUPER cautious about that stuff! Like as soon as I get in the car I lockthem anyway!
ReplyDeleteWas this in Lebanon?
ReplyDeleteThat is so creepy! People around here can be crazy! I am lucky that my cars like yours and locks after you hit 10 mph.
ReplyDeleteWow. I appreciate the reminder. One time someone came up to my granddad's car when he was at a red light and they just opened the door and got in. Talk about scary!
ReplyDeleteI had something like that happen before. When I got this new van, I loved that it locks up when you put it in drive.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are okay...I feel sad about people like that who clearly are not okay. I hope she has people to love her.
That totally freaked me out... I know people can be weird but you really never think something like that will happen to you! I am actually a little paranoid and do check to make sure my doors are locked, especially when the kids are in the car. I still can't believe that happened... Did you ever report it?
